What is the point of living in the countryside and not visiting the local villages’ Annual Shows? And if you are fortunate enough to actually live in the village, with 70 categories to enter, why not join in?
Have you a perfect set recipe, a photo you've taken of a blossom or of some aspect of Northamptonshire history that has to be worthy of at least one rosette?
How long are your beans? Or courgettes? Are your tomatoes ripening just in time? Does your bread rise to perfection? Are your roses really the most sweetly scented? Have you always wanted to taste your neighbour's jam? And if you can get your mind out of the gutter, imagine the pride your child will feel when their miniature garden or greeting card gets a rosette for their creation? Or your spouse takes second prize for the new adult category of Vegetable Animal?
Full details on the myriad choices have been delivered to most village homes or are available from the Gardening Club or the Geddington Post Office. Take a moment to browse them and find just one to three things that you might be best at this year.
If you can contribute a few items to the plant stall, then give Pam a shout at 742292 or alternatively the plants can be brought on the Saturday morning
Aside from the plant stall there will of course, be bountiful homemade refreshments, sideshows, the Gretton Silver Band, the opportunity to meet pretty well the entire population of Geddington, and the chance to participate in something very special.
