The A43 – More Closures, More Diversions

To those of us who use the A43, the part of it from Kettering to Corby, it was obvious that the Stanion Roundabout wasn’t finished during the last round of closures and diversions.  The time has now come for the finishing touches.

This road will be closed during half-term week, Monday 18 October – Friday 1 November, and in two stages as before.

Interserve Construction Ltd explains:

“As part of the construction of the A43 Corby Link Road, sections of the A43 around Stanion will need to be closed between Monday 28th October and Friday 1st November 2013. The closures will be over a four-day period, weather permitting. This period has been chosen to coincide with the school half term break.

Since the first closure at the Stanion Island, essential new drainage and kerbing works have been completed and this latest closure will allow the final tarmac surfacing and white lining, to be completed.

As before, the closure will take place in two phases with each phase scheduled to last for two days. Throughout there will be 3-way traffic lights in operation 24 hours a day, on Stanion roundabout, to permit continual use of Longcroft Road, A43 South of the Stanion roundabout and the A6116 (Brigstock Road).

Advanced warning signs will be put in place in the week leading up to the closure, to alert people to diversions and the A6003 will be fully open to accommodate traffic.

The two phases are as follows:

Phase 1Monday 28thOctober to the early hours of Wednesday 30th October, will be the closure of the A43 to the north of Stanion, between the junction of the A43 / A6086 (adjacent to the Holiday Inn) and the Stanion roundabout (A43 / A6116 junction).

Diversion routes will signpost the following:-

Local traffic

O    Access to and from the Eurohub and Little Stanion will be maintained via the A6116 (Brigstock Road) and the A43 south of the Stanion Roundabout, via Geddington.

Other traffic – heading South

Traffic travelling towards the A14 from Corby or the A43 south bound from Weldon/Stamford, should use the A6014 Cottingham Road, the A6003 South towards Kettering, and the A43 Kettering Bypass out to the A14 junction 7.

O    Traffic wishing to access the Eurohub/Little Stanion from Corby or A43 Southbound, should also use the A6014 Cottingham Road and the A6003 South towards Kettering and use the A43 via Geddington.

Phase 2 – From Wednesday 30th October to morning of Friday 1st November, weather permitting, will be the closure of the A43 to the south of the Stanion Roundabout (A43/A6116 junction).

During this phase, there will be no access to Kettering, Geddington or south from the Stanion Roundabout. Diversion routes will signpost the following:-

Local traffic

O    Access to and from the Eurohub and Little Stanion will be maintained via the A6116 (Brigstock Road) and the A43 north of the Stanion Roundabout.

O    Access to businesses located along the A43 between Weekley and Stanion will be maintained.

Other traffic – heading north

Traffic travelling towards Corby or the A43 out towards Weldon/Stamford should use the A43 Kettering Bypass, the A6003 northbound and the A6014 Cottingham Road to re-join the A427/A43.

Traffic wishing to access the Eurohub/Little Stanion from the A14 should exit at junction 12, onto the A6116 to Stanion roundabout.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused, and we will do our best to reduce the impact of the works and time it takes to a minimum.

If you have any queries regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact either Andy Bond or myself, Vanessa Adu, on 01773 547601.”
