Another Road Closure – A509 Pytchley Road, Kettering

Do you shop at Tesco’s?

Do you go to the Odeon Cinema?

Do you want to visit any of the shops, offices and businesses in Pytchley Lodge Road, Kettering Retail Park or Kettering Venture Park?

Do you get there by way of the Pytchley Road?

If so, then you might want to read on . . .

The Railway Bridge on the A509, Pytchley Road, Kettering, which leads to all these places is undergoing reconstruction.

In fact, the bridge is to be brought down at 12 noon on Christmas Day!

MPB Structures Ltd is in charge of the rebuild, but when rebuilt, the bridge will be raised from its present level in order that the electrification of the railway line may take place.

You may well have been caught up in the traffic lights recently, which are placed either side of the bridge. The lights are there so that the services which run over and through the bridge – water, electricity, gas, telephone – can be cut off. These will, of course, be reconnected during the bridge’s reconstruction.

Mr Frank Donlon, Site Manager, confirmed to Geddington.net the following:

The bridge will be closed on Monday 9th December through to Friday 28th February 2014.

A pedestrian bridge, for access, will be available until 24th December. This will be closed until 27th December for the demolition of the bridge.

There will be a viewing area for the public to watch the demolition – makes a change from television!

It is anticipated that the works should be finished by March, although the bridge should be open by the end of February– weather permitting!
