Beer Festival with a difference!

Geddington.net has spoken to Andrew Hammond, Commanding Officer of the Geddington Volunteer Fire Brigade (GVFB), about its forthcoming Beer Festival and Trundle. Andrew explained that “The Trundle is loosely based on times when a local farmer would roll a barrel of beer up on to the Chase for his workers at harvest time. Geddfest 2013

The White Hart will once again this year be hosting the Gedd-fest Music Festival. This year the event will take place on 7th July between 12 noon and 8pm, at The White Hart, 11 West Street.

Nicky Goodall has told Geddington.net that “funds are being raised in support of Geddington Street Fair”.

Bands performing on the day include Babysitter, Bentback Tulips, Nicole Hope, The Replicats and Alan Mills & The Hucklebuck Band.

Audiences will find a Hog Roast, BBQ, Ice Creams, Stalls and a Raffle.

Nicky added that she hopes “villagers will support the cause and join the Festival”.

The Star – Shining brightly again!

The Star Inn has been taken on by the Tracey family who will be signing a 20 year lease shortly.

Joanne and Vaughan Tracey met in the Star some 35 years ago and have a sentimental connection with the pub having celebrated a number of individual and family events there particularly in their early years together. Read more →

Geddington’s ‘STAR INN’ closed its doors on Friday 12th April 2013.

This historic public house that sits in the shadows of The Eleanor Cross, is another victim of today’s tough times. Unfortunately for managers Richard and Jayne and all the staff, Friday was last orders!!!

Business as Usual

Local landlord Harry Kelly passed away suddenly a few weeks ago; he leaves a wife, three sons and a daughter.  He was the proprietor of 12 public houses in the local area including The Star Inn and The White Lion at Geddington.

Local pub managers have said that residents and visitors to Geddington can be assured that both will continue to trade as normal at this time.
