Geddington is a lively and welcoming village with a busy social scene.
We've won both the Calor Village of the Year in Northamptonshire for 2006 and the Calor Village of the Year in Central England for 2007.
Geddington is an ancient village which once boasted frequent royal visitors. We have the best preserved
Eleanor Cross still in existence (that's it on the left of your screen), a church dating from Saxon times, and a bridge over the
River Ise dating from 1250 which is still in daily use. Click on History on the menu to the left to find out more about old Geddington.
If you want to dig deeper, there's an excellent book available, funds from which go to the
local Samuel Lee Charity.
Modern residents and visitors have a wide range of activities and facilities to keep them amused: three pubs, a post office and general
stores, a hairdresser, cricket, boxing, tennis, rugby, football and bowls clubs, amateur dramatics, Womens' Institute, Friends of the Church,
a quarterly newsletter, Gardening Club, Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, a youth club and the Geddington Volunteer Fire Brigade. Contact details for
all of these can be found by clicking on the Village Directory link.
