Open Day – Geddington & Newton Bowls Club

A warm welcome greeted those who braved the chilly wind on Saturday morning and went along to find out more about bowls and the excellent facilities in the village for this traditional English pastime.

All courts were in use as enthusiastic visitors picked up the key points of play from coaches drawn from members of the club as well as chief coach Barry Basford.

The club encourages people of all ages to come along and enjoy the sport. There are lighter weight bowls for junior players as well as the traditional sets for the adults.

The green is beautifully maintained and is highly regarded in competition circles and the club facilities are also excellent.

The only thing that is ever in doubt is the weather, but even that does not dampen the love of the game that so many of the members have.  This, together with the strong teamwork and friendship within the club, means it is thriving.

Missed009 the Open Day? Not to worry; there are coaching sessions every Tuesday evening from 28th May for 6 weeks.  Do go along – you are sure of a warm welcome – who knows you may be the next competition winner!
