A43 Closure & Chaos

Northamptonshire Highways  Communications Manager, Rebecca Miller, has been deluged with phone calls since 5am this morning.

Many phone calls have been made by parents trying to get their children to school in Geddington. Schools were contacted by Highways in advance of this work, to explain that there will be delays and children may be late, so they should not be penalised for this.”

Lorries and trucks are exacerbating delays at 3-way lights and every effort is being made to get the message across: avoid the A43 wherever possible.”

Despite signage and warnings to avoid the area, it seems that people are still making a determined effort to get through the works, which really doesn’t help. If at all possible, avoid the area or use the diversion via the A6003 and other signposted routes.”

Rebecca adds: “The delays relating to such major work is unavoidable and the Link Road is still on target for completion in March 2014, bringing major relief and benefits to Geddington.”

Rebecca is keen to keep lines of communication open and can be contacted on 01604 883434 or probably better, if possible, by Twitter, by following nnhighways. Updated information on the road can be obtained through the www.Corbylinkroad.com website.

Little Oakley villagers’ concerns about traffic trying to get through to Great Oakley have been reported and attempts will be made to improve signage.

Please Note: Work will continue on the North side of Stanion Roundabout this week (Phase 1), and then the South side next week (Phase 2).
