THE FLOWER FESTIVAL 2019
– ARTISTIC FLAIR
Plenty of Artistic Flair could be found in the church of St Mary Magdalene during the week-end of 6th and 7th July. The chosen theme was well demonstrated by a wide variety of wonderful floral interpretations of art, artists, fashion, music and even home decorating. Where else would you see a floral tin of emulsion?
All the flower arrangers and everyone who helped with the show are to be congratulated for their enthusiasm and tremendous efforts to make the church look beautiful.
A major highlight of the week-end was the concert on Saturday evening. Organised by Chris Hills, our church director of music, he and Frances Hynes together with her talented family and friends, entertained the audience with a delightful range of music for flute, piano and organ, cleverly based on the flower festival theme. It was their ninth concert performance for us and they are to be commended for their musical flair and their continued support. It really is a lovely evening, to be able to listen to fine live music with a glass of wine in such a wonderful historic setting surrounded by top class floral displays.
We are grateful for the kind compliments received during the week-end and we wish to convey sincere thanks to everyone who came along and supported our festival. We are pleased to say that you helped us to raise over £1600 towards church funds, a princely sum.
There are more events coming up, especially the annual Christmas Tree Festival and we hope that you will continue to come along and enjoy the festivities. Everyone is always welcome, not only as visitors but we are always looking for new participants and support behind the scenes at our various functions.

If you would like to contact us about any of our functions, we can usually be found at the coffee mornings in the church held on the last Saturday of every month from 10.00am until 12 noon. So, why not come along for a chat, have a cuppa and even enjoy a slice of cake or two. You do not have to be a church member, and we emphasise again that everyone is welcome.
